Join Costa Rica Volunteering at the world-renowned Ostional Wildlife Refuge on the beautiful Nicoya Peninsula! We are dedicated to protecting endangered sea turtles at one of the planet’s most important mass-nesting beaches.

Reaching our remote location is an adventure, but our dedicated team will guide you every step of the way upon your arrival. Once here, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals who are always attentive and ready to train you.

While the highest chance to experience the legendary “Arribada”—where up to 200,000 Olive Ridley turtles arrive simultaneously—is typically between August and November, this is one of the few projects globally where you will see nesting turtles on a weekly basis year-round!

As an on-site volunteer, you’ll live right on the beachfront. Your hands-on experience includes thrilling night patrols, conservation research, and protecting nests to save thousands of hatchlings. We provide 3 daily meals to keep you energized.

Please note: this is a serious conservation effort. If you want a relaxed yoga or surf vacation, there are better options out there. We have a strict 0% tolerance policy for alcohol and drugs during your stay on the base. However, on your weekends off, you are free to go out, explore the beautiful surroundings, and have fun!

If you truly want to help conserve the planet and make a real, lasting impact, this is the place for you!
